Fighting Fire with Kindness: OC Business Owner Donates Pizzas to Los Angeles Fire Fighters

[Los Angeles, California | January 14, 2025] – The devastating fires in Los Angeles have left families and business owners across Los Angeles grappling with unimaginable loss. For one Orange County business owner, the tragedy hits especially close to home. A former LA native who grew up in the neighborhoods of LA is stepping up to support her former community by donating pizzas to those helping out fight the fires on the front lines.

“When I heard and saw the images of the impact of the fires, my heart broke,” said Mimi Mar, an LA native now running The Pizza Press in Orange County. “Even though I’ve lived in Orange County for many years, LA is still home. My childhood home is there, my family still lives there, and it’s where my roots are.”

This connection to Los Angeles, coupled with a deep sense of gratitude for the first responders tirelessly working to save lives and property, has inspired Mimi to take action. Through her Pizza Press, she has donated pizzas to provide comfort and nourishment for the firefighters working tirelessly to combat and put out the fires, serving about 180 people.

“My message is simple. Home should be a safe place. No one should lose everything they have worked for or feel the fear of losing their home,” she said. “If I can provide a meal to someone who has lost everything or someone working hard to save others, then that’s the least I can do.”

This initiative is personal for Mimi Mar, who has friends in the firefighting community and knows firsthand the sacrifices these heroes make. She also experienced the loss of someone she knew personally while they were fighting a fire years ago.

While the pizza donations are already underway, Mimi Mar is also working on a larger fundraising event to raise additional funds for victims. Details of the event will be announced in the coming weeks.
